Charlton Athletic looking to end Huddersfield Town’s League One unbeaten run – but Addicks winless in last four against Terriers

Charlton Athletic face a Huddersfield Town side that are unbeaten in six League One matches at the John Smith’s Stadium tomorrow, writes Edmund Brack.

Nathan Jones’ Addicks are winless in their past four league outings – the three draws collected over that period leaving them six points above the bottom four and seven points adrift of the play-offs.

Charlton have not won in the league since the 1-0 success over Birmingham on October 5.

The Addicks have suffered four straight defeats against the Terriers and conceded 12 goals in the process.

Jones will be able to be on the touchline despite his dismissal in last week’s EFL Trophy win over Bromley.

The Welshman is not going to face any further action for kicking the ball while it was still in play. Any ban would only have been enforceable in that competition anyway.

Huddersfield are eighth in the table and twice came from behind to pick up a 2-2 draw at Crawley before the international break. They had suffered a 1-0 defeat in the FA Cup to non-league Tamworth before the draw with the Red Devils in the league.

Terriers boss Michael Duff was happier with his side’s display in West Sussex. He said: “Off the back (of the FA Cup defeat) all I could ask was that we could run and fight – we did that.

“That’s six games unbeaten in the league now – it’s not an easy league. Birmingham drew at home to Northampton when everyone assumed Birmingham would roll them over.

“We should win the game – that stats tell you that. I watched the game and my eyes told me the same.

“They have had two shots and scored and we’ve had enough chances to win two or three games, that’s the disappointing part.”

Key players Josh Koroma and Rhys Healey were playing together for the first time since the third game of the season after recovering from injury issues.

Defender Michal Helik also returned to match action against Crawley after missing the previous six league outings due to a hamstring problem.

Duff added: “I thought the fans saw the players giving everything against Crawley. Will they go home happy with a draw? No.

“But there were improvements and we have to keep focused. We have to find more moments of quality when we’re behind and be more clinical.”
