Bundesliga side target January transfer window move for Crystal Palace forward
Crystal Palace could be set for a striker switch this January transfer window.
The South London Press understands that German side Eintracht Frankfurt are keen on signing Eagles forward Jean-Philippe Mateta this winter.
Palace turned down two bids from RB Leipzig in the summer – a loan offer and a €8million permanent transfer from the Bundesliga outfit.
The Eagles blocked a move for the 26-year-old after he scored a 22-minute hat-trick in the 3-2 EFL Cup second round win at Championship side Plymouth before the summer window closed.
Mateta has made 11 Premier League appearances this season and racked up three assists.
The French forward, who scored 24 goals in 67 Bundesliga appearances for Mainz, has made 80 appearances for Palace in all competitions.
Our paper understands that Hugo Ekitike – who the Eagles chased towards the end of the summer window – will be made available for a loan deal by PSG this winter.
Ekitike has only played eight minutes of senior football – a late substitute appearance in their opening day draw at home to Lorient – for Les Parisiens this season.
Frankfurt had been linked with a move for Ekitike last summer after they sold Randal Kolo Muani to PSG, but the German outfit have their sights set on a move for Mateta.
U21 striker Ademola Ola-Adebomi could also head out on loan this upcoming January, with a host of clubs having come to watch the Lewisham-raised forward in recent weeks.
The 20-year-old has been included in Roy Hodgson’s senior matchday squad three times this season and has bagged 12 goals in all competitions for Darren Powell’s U21 side.
