Santa Claus and his head elf return again to Christmas Grotto at Greenwich Shopping Park
Travelling all the way from the North Pole, Father Christmas, his head elf and a magical Christmas grotto will return to Greenwich Shopping Park, off Bugsby’s Way in Charlton, on Thursday, December 13.
The Park’s 14 high street stores and restaurants will be open for business as usual as Father Christmas greets children from 3pm until 7pm at this free, festive event.
The event marks Santa’s fourth annual festive visit to the park, giving children the opportunity to meet Santa in his grotto and share their Christmas wishes with him.
Taking place in the main square outside Frankie & Benny’s, visitors can enjoy listening to Christmas music while they queue to meet the man himself, with a small gift for children who have been especially nice this year.
Christmas colouring sheets will be on offer in Starbucks as parents and children await their moment with Santa Claus, and local charity The Maypole Project will also be fundraising throughout the day as passing shoppers enjoy the festive celebrations.
Rachel Lydon from Greenwich Shopping Park, said: “More than 400 children attended last year’s Christmas Grotto event, so we can’t wait to give shoppers another chance to meet Santa Claus this December.
“Santa and his head elf have an extremely busy schedule during the run-up to Christmas so we feel honoured that they’ll be in attendance at this free, family event, bringing Christmas spirit for parents and children alike.”
Emma Norris, community fundraiser for The Maypole Project in Greenwich, said: “It’s our 15th anniversary this year so we’re keen to increase awareness of the services that we provide to children with complex medical needs and their families within the Greenwich borough.
“We’re really looking forward to joining the festive fun at Greenwich Shopping Park’s event and hope visitors will donate generously to The Maypole Project.”
Visitors can have their photos taken with Santa to mark the occasion and make it a Christmas to remember.
