Age Exchange in Blackheath Village win award for its work with dementia patients

A charity has won an award in a national competition for its work with dementia patients and carers.

The 34-year-old Age Exchange, in Blackheath Village, was a Highly Commended winner in the Foundation for Social Improvement (FSI) Small Charity Big Impact Awards.

A short film will also be made about it, which will help promote its work – it staged 7,500 hours of creative activities last year.

Chief executive Rebecca Packwood said: “We are delighted to have the hard work of staff,
volunteers and carers recognised.
More than 100 volunteers help us every week showing what a huge difference local people can make to a community.”

The awards celebrate the impact they have on a local, national, and international level.

FSI chief Pauline Broomhead said: “We are thrilled to award Age Exchange this prize and
congratulate them on their amazing work.”
