About 20 people escape from blaze in four-floor building
About 20 people managed to escape from a four-storey building after a fire broke out in the early hours this morning.
Eight fire engines and about 60 firefighters tackled the blaze in Baker Street at around 5am.
The fire spread through two floors the four floor terraced building, consisting of a shop with flats above.
One of the London Fire Brigade’s (LFB) 32m ladders was deployed to the scene as an observation tower.
About 20 people evacuated the property before crews arrived.
Crews from Paddington, Soho, Euston and surrounding fire stations had the incident under control by around 7am.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the LFB’s Investigation Team.
