Free Christmas tree recycling in Wandsworth
Wandsworth council has released details about its free Christmas tree recycling services.
All real Christmas trees will be recycled for free from Monday in Wandsworth, on residents’ normal bin collection day and will run throughout the month.
The services are for real Christmas trees – not artificial alternatives – which can be shredded into chippings and used for composting in parks or woodland areas.
The council has said trees will be collected on the same day as residents’ rubbish and recycling but in a different vehicle, so it may not be at the same time.
Trees – which should be taken out of pots and have all decorations removed – can be left out after 6.30pm on the day before the collection is due, or by 6.30am on the collection day.
To recycle trees before Monday, residents are advised to take them to drop-off points in Tooting Common in Dr Johnson Car Park, Battersea Park in Albert Bridge Car Park, Albert Bridge Road, or Battersea Park in Chelsea Gate, Carriage Drive North.
These drop-off points will be accepting trees from now until January 31, 2024.
