General Election results 2024: Labour secures easy wins throughout Lewisham

Labour eased to success throughout Lewisham, securing majority wins in the borough’s three constituencies.

Vicky Foxcroft, representing the Labour Party, gained a majority in Lewisham North.

Ms Foxcroft received 25,467 of the 44,167 votes cast after polling yesterday.

The Labour MP swept to victory ahead of the Green Party’s Adam Pugh, who saw 9,685 votes to his name, followed by Liberal Democrat Jean Raili Branch, with 3,284 votes.

The Conservatives were dealt a blow of losing six per cent of the vote share they received in 2019, with only 2,701 votes coming in for Tory representative Nupur Majumdar.

In 2023, there was a boundary review by the UK Government, which means that this is the first election in which Lewisham North has been its own constituency.

In Lewisham East, 40,637 voters took to the ballot box for the general election 2024.

Labour’s Janet Daby held a majority with 23,646, votes and will continue to represent the constituency as its MP.

A Labour stronghold, Lewisham East, has been a Labour MP since 1992.

The Labour representative surged ahead of her challengers, including Callum Fowler of the Green Party with 9,009 votes and Josh Matthews of the Liberal Democrats with 3,558 votes.

Volunteers began counting the votes at 10pm yesterday when the polls closed.

Voters across Lewisham as a borough have historically favoured the Labour Party, with Labour taking seats across all Lewisham constituencies in the 2019 general election – Deptford, Lewisham West and Penge, Dulwich and West Norwood.
