Nurse struck off after becoming embroiled in sinister world of body parts mutilator

A nurse who stole medicines from a London hospital to cut off a man’s nipple ‘for sexual gratification’ has been struck off the register.
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) said Nathan Arnold’s actions brought the profession into disrepute and were ‘difficult, if not impossible, to remediate’.
Arnold admitted stealing local anaesthetic lidocaine from the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, where he worked, between 2016 and 2022, and possessing extreme pornography in April last year. He was handed a two-year sentence, suspended for two years, and ordered to do 100 hours of unpaid work.
The nursing watchdog wrote: “The panel considered Mr Arnold’s actions to be fundamentally incompatible with him remaining on the register.
“The panel determined that the findings in this particular case demonstrate that Mr Arnold’s actions were serious and to allow him to continue practising would undermine public confidence in the nursing profession and in the NMC as a regulatory body.”
Arnold, from South Kensington, did not dispute the finding and has since completed a programme run by Safer Lives, which provides advice to sexual offenders, a report by the NMC shows. The former nurse admitted to the partial removal of ‘eunuch-maker’ Marius Gustavson’s nipple with a scalpel in the summer of 2019.
He also admitted to possessing 72 extreme pornographic images which were described by the judge as ‘graphic and appalling’. The former nurse was one of ten men charged with participating in a ‘lucrative’ pay-per-view website run by Gustavson where subscribers could watch videos of extreme body modifications.
Referred to as ‘Nurse Nate’ in messages by Gustavson, the prosecution said he was both a ‘victim’, having undergone a genital mutilation procedure himself, and a perpetrator of harm.
Gustavson’s website netted more than £300,000 between 2017 and 2021 and offered male castration, penis removal and other ‘grisly’ procedures on an unprecedented scale, the Old Bailey heard.
On one occasion Gustavson cooked ‘what appeared to be human testicles which are then plated to be eaten’ and kept other body parts as ‘trophies’, Judge Mark Lucraft KC said. Gustavson was sentenced to life with a minimum term of 22 years in May.
Judge Lucraft said of Arnold and the other defendants: “I am entirely satisfied that the motivation of all those involved were a mix of sexual gratification as well as financial reward.”
