South Londoners! Join the applause for our amazing NHS staff!

A huge round of applause will be taking place on Thursday to say thanks to the NHS staff working tirelessly during the coronavirus pandemic.

Organisers of Clap for our Carers are asking everyone that can to clap at 8pm on March 26 – whether it’s in your garden or local park (at a safe distance from others, of course).

Everyone is being asked to give an ovation to frontline health staff – whether it is from their living rooms, front doors or gardens – at 8pm this Thursday.

Organisers say they want to “show all nurses, doctors, GPs and carers our appreciation for their ongoing hard work against this virus”.

It comes as the death toll in the UK rises to 233, with 4,145 people infected with the virus.

The new deaths were recorded for the whole of the UK in the biggest leap yet.

Everyone at the South London Press thanks you for your continued support.

Former Housing Secretary Robert Jenrick has encouraged everyone in the country who can afford to do so to buy a newspaper, and told the Downing Street press briefing:

“A FREE COUNTRY NEEDS A FREE PRESS, AND THE NEWSPAPERS OF OUR COUNTRY ARE UNDER SIGNIFICANT FINANCIAL PRESSURE”

If you can afford to do so, we would be so grateful if you can make a donation which will allow us to continue to bring stories to you, both in print and online. Or please make cheques payable to “MSI Media Limited” and send by post to South London Press, Unit 112, 160 Bromley Road, Catford, London SE6 2NZ
