Bermondsey boxer Kongo wants big Millwall turnout for Florian Marku dust-up

Bermondsey welterweight Chris Kongo is set to face unbeaten Florian Marku at Greenwich’s 02 Arena on March 31.

Kongo, 31, has been out of the ring since losing a majority decision to Ekow Essuman in January 2023 when  the British and Commonwealth titles were on the line.

Kongo’s record in the professional ranks is 14 wins and two losses.

The Millwall fan has urged the club’s supporters to buy tickets and make it intimidating for Albanian-born southpaw Marku (13-0-1).

“This is personal now and I’m coming for you (Marku),” said Kongo, pictured left. “ I need all of you Millwall fans to make The O2 feel like The Den.

“Grab your tickets and let’s create a proper Bermondsey atmosphere.”

Marku said: “He can speak as much as he wants – when we’re in the ring he will see I’m different.

“It is not personal, at all. I hope he has a safe camp and no injuries.”
