Crystal Palace boss asked for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi injury update as Michael Olise suffers hamstring blow

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson is not expecting Jesurun Rak-Sakyi back from injury until February.

Southwark-born Rak-Sakyi has been missing since he suffered a hamstring problem before the 2-0 win at Burnley in early November.

The 21-year-old spent last season on loan at Charlton Athletic in League One, scoring 15 goals and grabbing nine assists.

Rak-Sakyi made six substitute appearances in the Premier League this season before being sidelined.

He has missed the last 10 outings in the top flight.

Hodgson is now also without Michael Olise, who suffered a hamstring injury in the 

“It might be after the end of the month [January],” said Hodgson about Rak-Sakyi’s expected availability.

“He’s making good progress but it might be a question of hoping that two young players that we believe in and we’re quite excited about when we watch them train and play. 

“They have been doing extremely well – Matheus Franca and Naouirou Ahamada – we’re hoping they can show what they can do like Jes did when he got his chance. 

“If he gets back fit then it means we will be quite well blessed in the wide areas with very talented young players.

“I can’t give you an exact time on Jes – it was a serious injury.

“I have to put myself in the hands of the medical and sports scinece people and them to say: ‘We have done all the tests and the rehabilitation process. He’s now ready to join you again.’

“I just have to wait patiently for that.”
