Crystal Palace keeping tabs on Chelsea midfielder’s future

Crystal Palace are keeping tabs on the situation of Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka this summer. 

The South London Press understands the Eagles will look to make a play to sign the 20-year-old should the Blues make him available.

Chukwuemeka has a reported release clause in the region of £40million in his current Chelsea deal, but the Eagles could soon have the cash to reinvest into the squad with Marc Guehi’s future uncertain as Newcastle ramp up their interest.

Palace want a replacement for Michael Olise after he was sold to Bayern Munich earlier this window. 

Eagles sporting director Dougie Freedman is an admirer of Chukwuemeka, who suffered an injury-hit campaign with Chelsea last season.

Ex-Aston Villa academy product Chukwuemeka could struggle for game time under Enzo Maresca following the signings of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Pedro Neto.

Palace’s success with highly rated youngsters – Olise, Guehi and most recently Adam Wharton – could give them the edge when trying to convince Chukwuemeka to leave Stamford Bridge.
