Crystal Palace turn down approaches for Jean-Philippe Mateta
Crystal Palace have turned down two approaches from RB Leipzig for striker Jean-Philippe Mateta.
The South London Press understands that the Eagles turned down Leipzig’s first offer to take Mateta on loan and have since rejected an €8million permanent bid from the Bundesliga side.
Fellow German outfits Borussia Dortmund and Borussia Monchengladbach are both keen on taking the 26-year-old on loan.
Mateta joined the South Londoners initially on an 18-month loan deal from Mainz in January 2021, with Palace making the deal a permanent one in January 2022.
The Frenchman has featured 67 times for the Eagles, scoring 10 times and picking up one assist.
Former Lyon and Le Havre forward Mateta, who scored the winner in the 2-1 win over Leicester City in Roy Hodgson’s first game back at Selhurst Park last season, has three years left to go on his deal with the club.
The Eagles are in the market for another striker.
