Ex-AFC Wimbledon academy defender makes League One move

Former AFC Wimbledon defender Toby Sibbick has joined League One side Wigan in a permanent deal from Scottish Premiership side Hearts.

The now 25-year-old came through AFC Wimbledon’s academy and featured 38 times before being sold to Barnsley in 2019.

He made 88 appearances for the Scottish side, scoring once and picking up two assists.

Sibbick also helped Hearts qualify for the Europa Conference League in his first season after finishing fourth in the Premiership.

He has penned a two-year deal with Wigan.

“I am very happy to be here. I am looking forward to the challenge and can’t wait to get started,” Sibbick told the club website.

“I feel like I’ve got different qualities, and I can’t wait to get on the training pitch and get to know the lads.”
