Ex-Millwall midfielder won’t let Luton boo boys affect him – as Charlton next up in crunch Championship clash

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

Ryan Tunnicliffe reckons that he won’t let criticism from Luton fans affect him – as the former Millwall midfielder looks to continue the Hatters’ Championship revival at Charlton on Saturday.

Town fans cheered when the ex-Manchester United man was subbed in a recent home game against Cardiff City.

But Tunnicliffe, released by the Lions in the summer, impressed as Luton beat Sheffield Wednesday last week and he scored the winner against Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Town are four points adrift of safety and the trip to The Valley is a crunch one.

Tunnicliffe told Luton Today: “It’s all about the three points, so everyone is entitled to their opinion.

“Boo me, cheer me, I’m going to put the shirt on if the gaffer picks me and try my hardest to win football games for the club.

“The fans have one view but if you ask my team-mates, they know I give 11 out of 10 every week, in terms of effort.

“If I’m not having a great game with the ball I’m still going to try and I’m sure every single one of them would like me on the team sheet because I’ll put my body on the line, I’ll try and run around.

“It’s obviously not nice but I don’t think I’ll let that affect me.

“I’ll keep grinding and as long as the gaffer keeps believing in me, that’s the main thing, and I’ll try my hardest to keep us in the league.”
