Exclusive: Brighton winger Skalak undergoing Millwall medical
BY RICHARD CAWLEY
Brighton winger Jiri Skalak is undergoing his Millwall medical this afternoon.
The Lions have agreed terms to sign the Czech winger, 26, and are set to make him their third signing of the summer.
Skalak has been a long-term target for Millwall. They tried to sign him last August and also made a fresh move in the January window before they landed Ben Marshall on loan from Wolves.
The South London Press understands that Skalak will not break the Championship club’s long-standing transfer record – £800,000 for Paul Goddard in 1989.
Millwall have been shrewd operators in the transfer market since promotion and bringing in a left-sided winger has been a priority this summer.
The Lions had been negotiating a deal for Marshall, only for Norwich City to put together a lucrative package to land the Salford-born wideman who flourished during his Den loan spell.
Skalak is a set-piece specialist and his excellent crossing ability should produce plenty of joy for a Millwall side who are powerful in the air.
