Former Millwall players feature for England Veterans
The England Veterans team secured a comfortable 4-0 win over a Thailand B side, at RBAC University in Bangkok on Saturday night, as their preparations for the defence of their Seniors World Cup title continued.
Former Millwall striker Barry Hayles scored England’s second goal in a rain-interrupted match. Joining the Lambeth-born forward in the veterans squad for the first time this year was former Lions midfielder Wesley Reid.
England play Scotland on Monday, followed by Taiwan on Tuesday and New Zealand on Wednesday, ahead of a rest day on Thursday when the team will visit a local school.
The Seniors World Cup was initially conceived by the Senior Football Association of Thailand, to promote tourism in the wake of the Tsunami. Since 2006 the tournament has become an annual event, held in a different province of Thailand each year.
