Fulham complete deal for Leicester defender

Fulham have signed Belgium full-back Timothy Castagne from Leicester on a four-year deal – with an option for a further 12 months at Craven Cottage.

The 27-year-old was available after the Foxes were relegated to the Championship last season and has not featured under new boss Enzo Maresca this campaign before completing his move to west London.

Castagne has also had spells at Genk and Atalanta during his career.

He joined Leicester in 2020 and made 112 appearances at the King Power.

Fulham have paid a reported £13.5million for the defender, who will be available for Saturday’s Premier League clash against Manchester City.

He will compete with Kenny Tete and Antonee Robinson for a place in Marco Silva’s side.

“It’s been a long transfer window, but finally I’m here, and I’m happy to be here,” Castagne told FFCtv.

“It’s a big relief. I’ve talked to the manager and I just can’t wait to start training and playing.”

Fulham’s vice chairman Tony Khan said: “I’m excited to welcome Timothy Castagne to Fulham.

“He’s a versatile and very talented defender with great experience in the Premier League and international competition for Belgium.

“I’m pleased that Timothy has committed to a four-year contract with us, and we believe that he’ll be an excellent addition to Marco’s squad.”
