Alex Woodyard provides update on AFC Wimbledon contract situation

AFC Wimbledon midfielder Alex Woodyard has provided an update on his contract situation.

The Dons captain signed a two-year deal in 2020 when he joined on a free transfer from Peterborough United, which is set to expire at the end of the season.

Woodyard has only missed six minutes of League One games that he has started this season and scored his first goal of the season for the club in the 1-1 draw with Milton Keynes last weekend.

When asked about his future, Woodyard told the South London Press: “I have spoken to the club a few times, but I have made it clear that, for me, I have come to Wimbledon to try and improve the football club.

“I want to see that job through. I don’t want to sort myself out before the club is sorted and the club knows what league it is going to be in next season.

“I have come here to do a job, and I want to get that job done before anything is sorted out.”
