John McGreal takes charge of Ipswich Town for Valley clash with Charlton Athletic

John McGreal has been named as Ipswich Town’s interim manager and will be in the away dugout for the Tractor Boys trip to The Valley tomorrow night.
The former Blues defender will be joined by Rene Gilmartin as well as U23’s assistant boss Kieron Dyer and head of academy goalkeeping Carl Pentney.
Ipswich sacked manager Paul Cook after they drew 0-0 with League Two Barrow in the second round of the FA Cup on Saturday.
Town chief executive Mark Ashton said the board decided that the reason for sacking the experienced manager was a “change is needed for our long-term interests”.
Former Addicks striker Francis Jeffers has left the club along with Gary Roberts, Ian Craney and John Keeley.
Charlton Athletic will be looking to get their fifth win in seven league matches since Johnnie Jackson took caretaker charge at the end of October.
