Lee Bowyer reckons that Anfernee Dijksteel’s future lies at right-back.
The Dutchman was a defensive midfielder when he first came to Charlton via NIKE’s academy.
Chris Solly has served his four-game suspension and is available for tomorrow night’s League One play-off semi-final second leg against Doncaster, but Dijksteel has been impressive in his absence.
The Addicks are keen to tie Dijksteel down to a new deal, his current terms end next June.
“Anfernee has done really well while Sols has been out – but he has done a good job all season whenever he has been called on,” said Bowyer.
“The kid’s a machine,” he said. “His athleticism is really good. He’s working on his end product every day. Once he gets that right then he’ll be very, very good in that position.”
“There is a good chance he [Solly] will be back in the squad. Whether he’ll start or not, that’s a completely different matter.
“To have Sols’ experience will be a good thing, but he travelled with us at the weekend. He was still in and around things on Sunday.”
