Millwall land home draw with Portsmouth in EFL Cup first round

Millwall will host Portsmouth in the first round of the EFL Cup.

The fixture will take place at The Den in the week commencing Monday, August 9.

Clubs can mutually agree to an earlier date, between July 31 and August 4.

Pompey finished eighth in League One last season and missed out on the play-off places by just two points.

It will be the first time the two sides have faced each other in nine years, since Harry Kane’s winner gave the Lions all three points at Fratton Park in April 2012.

Gary Rowett’s side were knocked out in round three of the competition last year after losing 2-0 at home against Burnley.
