Millwall manager delighted as two key men back in training and available for Easter matches

Millwall manager Gary Rowett has confirmed that Kenneth Zohore and Maikel Kieftenbeld will be available for Friday’s home game against Rotherham United.

And Connor Mahoney, who was an unused substitute in the 1-0 win over Middlesbrough before the international break, has also boosted his fitness with more training sessions as well as game time with the U23s.

Kieftenbeld has been sidelined for a number of weeks with a hamstring injury, not long after signing on a permanent basis from Birmingham.

West Brom loanee Zohore was sidelined in the middle of February with a calf injury.

“Maikel has trained a couple of days last week and a good few days this week – Ken is the same,” said Rowett. “They are all certainly available, but it is how much match fitness they have.

“It is nice to at least be able to select them, if required. It’s nice to have some extra bodies in the squad – and some good ones at that.

“Lenny [Ryan Leonard] was about a week behind Ken. He is not quite there. We knew it would be a long shot for him to be available for this game too.

“It feels like we have got new players back. We had less options to change games. Having those players back training lifts the intensity and lifts the competition. We’ve had a really enjoyable last few days, not least because of the weather. There is a real competitive edge that those type of options bring.”
