Millwall see big bid turned down by Brighton for Jayson Molumby

Millwall have seen a bid turned down for Jayson Molumby – with Brighton not prepared to sell the Irish midfielder.

If the offer had been accepted then it would have broken the Lions’ transfer record.

Molumby is being touted around by the Seagulls for another loan spell.

The 21-year-old impressed during his season-long stay with Millwall last season and won senior international recognition with the Republic of Ireland.

The South Londoners are keen to boost their central midfield options in the January transfer window.

Molumby made 40 appearances for the SE16 outfit but has played just a handful of Premier League minutes in the current campaign – coming on very late in the fixture at Aston Villa in November.

He has been on the bench for three of their last four top-flight games.
