MK deal for former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper MacGillivray
Former Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray has signed for Milton Keynes.
The League Two club confirmed that addition of another stopper Nathan Harness, who has been released this summer by the Addicks, earlier this afternoon.
Alex Gilbey, another player contracted to Charlton last season, was signed by MK earlier this month.
Charlton signed MacGillivray on a two-year contract in June 2021.
The former Portsmouth keeper lost his number one spot to Joe Wollacott after Ben Garner’s appointment as Addicks boss last summer.
MacGillivray spent the second half of the campaign with Burton Albion after dropping to third choice, with Ashley Maynard-Brewer moving ahead of Wollacott.
“I know what I’m capable of as a goalkeeper and I know what I can add to this current squad,” MacGillivray told MK’s website. “Hopefully I can bring all of that here and help the manager and the club get to where it wants to get to.”
MK head coach Graham Alexander said: “Craig is proven with a number of games under his belt at a higher level. He has a really good temperament and you know what you’re going to get from him – which is so important, from my experience, for his outfield team-mates.
“I tried to sign him at a previous club so he knows how much I rate him. I know he had a number of options, at a higher level as well, but there was a real thirst from him to come here. I think he will be a really good addition to the club – on the pitch and off the pitch.”
