New striker enters the Frey for QPR as former Swiss U21 international signs

QPR have signed Royal Antwerp striker Michael Frey.

The Swiss striker, who has represented his country at U21 level, spent the second half of last season on loan at German club Schalke.

“I am really, really happy to be here,” Frey told QPR’s official website.

“QPR is a big club with a big history, a beautiful stadium and top fans. To play in the UK for Swiss players is a big thing so I was very happy when I heard for the first time about QPR’s interest.

“I know this league is very, very tough. It is a fight every game and you never know what is going to happen, so I will have to work very hard.

“Every league is a little bit different but there is no league like the Championship.”

QPR head coach Martí Cifuentes added: “I am delighted the club has managed in such a difficult situation to get a player in with the experience and quality of Michael.

“He can be decisive in the final third, he has high energy which fits into how we want to play because he can help us to press high up the pitch, and he is a clever player too.

“He is a proven goalscorer across a number of leagues and countries, and a great addition to the squad.”
