Palace boss Patrick Vieira provides update on injured duo ahead of Leicester clash
Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira says that Nathan Ferguson has taken part in his first full training session since recovering from injury.
Ferguson, 22, has only played eight minutes of senior football for the Eagles since joining from West Brom in July 2020.
His single competitive appearance came in the 3-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last Boxing Day.
The versatile defender, who joined following the end of his contract with the Baggies, with the Eagles having to pay a £900,000 fee decided by a tribunal, has suffered a series of injuries at Selhurst Park.
He has been out since the start of the Premier League season with a foot injury.
“Nathan has been doing really well,” explained Vieira ahead of the trip to the King Power to take on bottom-of-the-table Leicester City.
“We didn’t do very much today [Friday], but he did a full session with the team. It [the session] was too short for him to be involved in the game tomorrow.
“From next week, he will do the full session with the team.
“With the injury experiences that he has had over the last couple of years, we have to build him up slowly. He will have to take part in some of the games with the U23s first.”
Summer signing Chris Richards withdrew from the USA squad ahead of their friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Japan due to a hamstring injury.
“He has started doing some work on the field, but he is still a couple of weeks short,” added Vieira.
