South London fighters enter ‘bubble’ ahead of title fights on Whyte-Povetkin II undercard in Gibraltar
Ted Cheeseman and Chris Kongo have both entered the Matchroom Boxing ‘bubble’ ahead of their fights in Gibraltar this weekend.
There is a strong South London flavour to Saturday’s event at the Europa Point Sports Complex.
Top of the bill is Brixton’s Dillian Whyte, as he looks to earn revenge in his rematch against Alexander Povetkin. The Russian heavyweight knocked out the South Londoner in the fifth round in August.
If Whyte can pick up the win he will reclaim the WBC Interim world title and muscle his way back into the picture for big fights.
Cheeseman and Kongo – both from Bermondsey – supply the chief support.
Cheeseman challenges Liverpool’s unbeaten JJ Metcalf for the vacant British super-welterweight title.
Undefeated Kongo, who campaigns at the same weight class, puts his WBO Global belt on the line against Portsmouth’s Michael McKinson.
The show is live on Sky Box Office.
