‘That’s the key’ – Dons boss wants consistency in run to claim play-off spot

AFC Wimbledon boss Johnnie Jackson believes his side retaining a level of consistency in their performances will allow them to claim a spot in this season’s play-off places.

The Dons moved up to eighth in the League Two table after a 1-1 draw at home to Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.

Jackson’s side finds themselves in a mix for the final playoff spot with eight points separating Harrogate, who are seventh and 17th-placed Tranmere.

Wimbledon play Crawley at home on Tuesday evening.

“It’s another point and we have climbed two places in the league,” said Jackson.

“We’re a point outside of the play-offs. I have watched enough of Morecambe to know they can get results at places.

“They’re no mugs – a tough opposition. To dominate the way that we did for the majority, I’m pleased.

“We’re right in the mix and have given ourselves a great chance with 14 games to go.

“Someone is going to get in. This group [of teams] that is tight and it’s probably going to be the team who are most consistent now.

“As frustrated as we are of only getting a point, it is another point. These are the games you can lose, so we just have to try and get that consistency about us.

“We were beat on Tuesday but it was a really close game. We’re getting a decent consistency in our performance levels and that’s the key.

“If we have that consistency about our performances, the points will follow.”
