Hunt for attackers after man in 80s is assaulted
Police have released images of two men they wish to speak to in relation to a robbery in Greenwich.
Police were called shortly before midday on March 13 to Anglesea Road, Woolwich to reports of a robbery.
On arrival, police found a man, aged in his 80s, who had been assaulted and had money taken from him. He has since made a full recovery.
The victim had gone to the bank on Victory Parade to withdraw some money and had travelled to Plumstead before returning to Woolwich on a Route 469 bus.
The images and CCTV show two men police would like to speak to who were on the bus with the victim.
The two men are described as being in their late 30s, of Eastern European appearance, and wearing dark blue jeans and white trainers.
Detective Constable Kate Bennett, who is leading the investigation, said: “This was a callous attack on a vulnerable, elderly man, who was left with pain in his back and a significant amount of money stolen from him. We are keen to speak to these two men to establish what happened.
“If you have any information which could help us identify these two individuals please call police on 101. This elderly gentleman deserves your help to catch them. No one should have to endure an intimidating and terrifying attack such as this.”
