‘Will I celebrate?’ – Birmingham striker Alfie May makes statement ahead of Charlton Athletic League One return
Birmingham City striker Alfie May wants to score against his old side Charlton Athletic on Saturday but will not be celebrating if he finds the back of the net.
May was sold to the Blues this summer after hitting 23 League One goals last season and winning the Golden Boot with Charlton Athletic in his debut campaign.
Our paper reported that the South Londoners are thought to have landed a deal worth around £775,000 with add-ons, meaning it could reach a seven-figure total.
The 31-year-old has five goals in eight League One appearances for Chris Davies’ side.
May said ahead of his league Valley return: “They’re a massive club, an ex-Premier League club. They have a manager in there that’s a very good coach. At the minute, their results are not showing in the league.
“It’s a hard one talking about Charlton to be honest. I was only there for a year and some of the abuse when I left… they don’t know half of the story.
“I think I said it last time, eventually, the story will come out.
“The club itself is fantastic, I really enjoyed my time there. The players and the fans supported me so much. It’s a local club to me.
“There’s a bit of frustration. Hopefully, I can score Saturday. Will I celebrate? I won’t be celebrating.”
Alfie May didn’t ask for a move. The club wanted the money. The fans calling him greedy B are wide of the mark though he is on more money at Blues to gazump Huddersfield to his signing.
