Former Burnley man set to feature for Addicks as he aims to land deal

Ali Koiki is set to feature for Charlton’s U23s today as he looks to land a move to the League One club.

The 21-year-old left-back is a free agent after turning down a new deal at Burnley. It means the Addicks would need to agree compensation with the Clarets if they were to make him one of their additions in this transfer window.

Koiki has already played once for Charlton in pre-season but they were under a transfer embargo at the time.

Those restrictions have been lifted following Thomas Sandgaard’s takeover.

He told LancsLive in November that he wanted first-team games.

“Whatever comes forward I want first-team football,” said Koiki.

“I am getting older and I want to make my mark on the game, the game is getting younger and younger with people coming through at younger ages so I want to make my mark on the game and develop a career.”

Koiki was on Crystal Palace’s books before moving to Burnley in 2016. He featured 15 times while on loan to Swindon Town in 2018-19.
