Millwall boss Harris has message after winning run on road continues at Birmingham City

Neil Harris saw his Millwall side move onto 42 points with a third straight Championship away win and then declared: “We’re getting stronger.”

Fred Onyedinma’s second-half goal sealed a double over Birmingham City on Saturday.

Lions manager Harris said: “We were fantastic at Bristol City, fantastic at Aston Villa. Absolutely dominated Fulham earlier in the season. Nottingham Forest…the ref might have stopped it at half-time if we’d converted the 45 chances we created in the first half.

“We could have so many more points. All we’ve done now is attacking players have found their form away from home and we’re getting stronger as the season goes on.

“We recruited in January to make ourselves stronger. I’ve left three out today who want to be in the team, let alone the squad. It’s tough but that’s the standards we’ve got now; when I’m bringing Fred on to have an impact, when I’m bringing Timmy Cahill on with 10 minutes to go to shore us up and Jason Shackell in injury-time to shore us up. I’m very lucky at the moment.

“We scraped into the play-offs last year because the FA Cup run nearly derailed us, getting to the quarter-finals. We started the season not getting the points we deserved. We had to stay strong and together as a group.

“Millwall fans only come in their numbers if they enjoy watching their team. My players look like a real Millwall team.

“Training Thursday I had two teams of 11 playing each other. I had the team I wanted to start and the team that wasn’t starting and I could’ve flicked them around today because it was that good a standard.

“The players realise now they have to stay where they are – those standards. If they don’t, they lose their place. When you get results, people follow you.”
