Charlton boss Lee Bowyer less than impressed with the officiating during 1-0 win at Blackpool

Charlton’s 1-0 win at Blackpool was anything but straightforward – and Lee Bowyer wasn’t overly impressed with the officiating on show.
The first-half ended ten apiece after Blackpool’s James Husband, who was shown his marching orders inside the first two minutes, was joined by the Addicks’ Ben Purrington on the naughty step seven minutes before the interval after receiving his second yellow card.
The controversy was ratcheted up another notch after the break as Ryan Inniss header from the corner found the back of the net, only to be ruled out by an extremely late offside flag as the officials decided Omar Bogle had interfered with the ball on its way in.
“The linesman, there’s not a chance that he could see from there,” fumed Bowyer after the game, which his side won thanks to Chuks Aneke’s late strike.
“He’s just guessed. He guessed 30 seconds after the ball was in the net. We were celebrating for 30 seconds and then he decided to put his flag up. I’m sick and tired of talking about decisions.
“I should be talking about the game. Week in, week out, we’re talking about decisions, big decisions. Again, we’ve been punished there. It’s not right. It can’t keep happening.
“It shouldn’t come down to that. We should have been comfortable because our keeper never really made a save. We were comfortable all game but to make a decision like that when you don’t really know, that’s wrong.”
Purrington was shown the red card for the first time in his career shortly before the interval after hauling down Blackpool’s CJ Hamilton.
Bowyer added: “I think they’re both pulling each other. I don’t think there’s much in it. The only thing I would say is once you get that tight against Hamilton, he’s a good player and he’s really quick.
“Once you get that tight, if you don’t win the ball then you’re in trouble. But I thought it was a soft yellow card. There were so many decisions tonight, there was a lot of guessing going on.”
