Falconwood station in running to be nation’s favourite
A railway station is in the running to be the nation’s favourite.
Falconwood station has been shortlisted for Rail Delivery Group’s #WorldCupOfStations twitter tournament.
A total of 48 railway stations, including South London rival Elmstead Woods, will battle it out to be crowned the nation’s favourite station this Friday.
The winner will be decided through a series of online polls.
Robert Nesbit, director of Nations and Regions for the Rail Delivery Group, said it aims to “celebrate the thousands of stations across the country that have been at the heart of their communities for more than a century”.
The tournament also shines a light on the stations and staff that have been essential in supporting the country’s recovery from Covid-19.
Falconwood station is used by more than one million passengers a year.
It has made a number of recent updates to improve passenger experience, including the introduction of flowers and plants to the booking hall area.
It shares community messages with the public, using original features such as chalk boards.
Other improvements include the replacements of station canopies on both platforms and the refurbishments of toilets.
