Charlton Athletic defender set for scan – as manager Lee Bowyer provides team news for Fleetwood fixture

Akin Famewo is set to undergo a scan today to discover the full extent of his hamstring injury – with the Charlton Athletic centre-back forced off in Saturday’s 2-0 win at Portsmouth.

The on-loan Norwich City defender has impressed since making a temporary switch to SE7.

But Famewo had to be replaced by Ben Purrington in the closing stages at Fratton Park.

“He’s going for a scan today – so we’ll see how he is,” said Addicks manager Lee Bowyer. “Apparently it was a lot better yesterday.

“He’s been having a bit of neural trouble, so we’re not 100 per cent sure it is his hamstring.”

Club captain Jason Pearce could be back for Saturday’s FA Cup tie against Plymouth Argyle.

Marcus Maddison’s ankle problem saw him miss out on the matchday 18 for the third time in five matches. The former Peterborough playmaker has clocked up just six minutes of football since signing for the club.

“Marcus was outside running again yesterday,” said Bowyer. “It is a horrible little injury – I’ve had it.

“With the ankle when you catch it wrong it is not good. But it’s settled down over the weekend. I don’t know where he is at because we’ve not had our meeting this morning yet.

“He might be okay to be on the bench.”

Ryan Inniss and Ben Watson are both available for tomorrow night’s home game against Fleetwood Town after serving their suspensions.
