Top doctor: Don’t delay if you need NHS treatment

A top doctor is urging people to not delay seeking help from the NHS.

Dr Andrew Murray, chairman of the South West London Clinical Commissioning Group (SWLCCG), is appealing to people to get treatment if needed.

He said: “Whether you are worried about a new or unusual symptom, you are pregnant and think something isn’t right, or you are feeling lonely or isolated, there are many ways the NHS can help you.”

There are many ways that the NHS is continuing to deliver safe help to people, including support online, by phone, video link or asking you to come in for assessment.

Dr Murray stressed the importance of continuing to go to maternity appointments and cancer screenings as normal.

He added: “Doctors, nurses and other NHS staff have worked hard to put in place measures to keep patients and staff safe, and I want to reassure the people of South-west London that the NHS continues to be here for you.

“It is important for those most at risk to get their seasonal vaccinations to protect themselves and their families due of Covid-19.”

The SWLCCG says the NHS is also pulling out all the stops to make getting a flu jab safe and convenient for people across South West London this winter.

More people than ever are being offered a free flu vaccine this year.
