Crowdfunding campaign aims to raise £10k to help London kids get reading

By Alice Neil

A company is crowdfunding to help children develop their reading skills.

Brixton based firm Exceed Reading Stars is working to close the gap between children’s reading age and their actual age.

Its crowdfunding campaign aims to raise £10,000 to fund a 13-week assisted reading pilot programme for 12 children in London aged six to 11.

The company hopes that this programme will “give children the opportunity to develop and discover their skills”.

The curriculum is tailored around the company’s core values to “encourage, empower and enable children to become confident readers”.

All of the courses are taught by a dedicated group of young reading leaders, who are trained volunteers aged between 15 and 21.
