Crystal Palace to travel to Wolves in FA Cup third round
BY SAM SMITH
Crystal Palace will face an all-Premier League FA Cup third round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers in January.
The Eagles will travel to Molineux on the weekend of January 8-11, with a definite date and time to be confirmed.
Roy Hodgson’s side will hope to improve on last season’s third round exit – losing 1-0 against Derby County at Selhurst Park.
They reached the quarter-final the year before, but were beaten by eventual finalists Watford.
Palace and Wolves have played each other in the top-flight since Wanderers’ promotion in 2018. Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have won three of their five recent meetings, while Palace have recorded a victory just once.
The South Londoners last played Wolves in the FA Cup in the 2009-10 campaign.
A 2-2 draw at Premier League Wolves handed then-Championship Palace a replay. Danny Butterfield’s hat-trick earned them a famous fourth-round win.
Neil Warnock’s side eventually lost to Aston Villa in a fifth-round replay at Villa Park.
