Millwall boss Gary Rowett: He’s the kind of striker every Championship team would want in their side
Millwall manager Gary Rowett reckons that Blackburn’s Adam Armstrong would get into any Championship team – as they look to keep out the red-hot Rovers frontman tonight.
The 23-year-old has scored 13 goals in as many league matches this season.
The Lions head to Ewood Park this evening. Tony Mowbray’s side have scored the most goals in the division – 27.
Rowett, asked about Armstrong’s scoring return, said: “It’s a stat you dream of and he is a striker who can make goals out of nothing by his movement or pace or quality.
“He is certainly an in-form striker and one you’d like to have in your team. Any club would like to have him in their side.
“They have got a lot of good attacking players. They don’t play like Reading but they remind me of them, in that they can score goals out of nothing and in different ways.
“But the flipside to a lot of teams like that is if they are looking to score lots of goals they are going to be a little open occasionally at the other end.
“Tony has done a good job, he is an experienced manager. There has always been a nice balance to his teams.
“I keep saying the same thing but we have to be very good at what we do – off the ball and then use the ball better when we’re in possession as well.”
