Coronavirus cases continue to rise in Kensington and Chelsea – but borough still has one of capital’s lowest rates

It’s hard to find a borough in the capital which hasn’t seen a recent spike in Covid-19 cases.
And Kensington and Chelsea is no exception.
The council’s weekly update showed an increase of six cases, from 163 in the week of November 26 to December 2, to 169 in the week of December 3 to December 9.
The borough’s infection rate per 100,000 for the period November 29 to December 5 was 117.2 per 100,000.
This means only four London boroughs have a lower rate.
The rate for London over the same period was 191.2 per 100,000.
The rate per 100,000 figures are available over a rolling seven-day period.
A Council spokeswoman said: “Cases of Coronavirus in Kensington and Chelsea are below the London rate but the numbers have been rising across the capital.
“We are working closely with the NHS and Public Health England colleagues to monitor the situation in the borough.
“We know our residents have already done a tremendous amount to protect their families, friends and neighbours.
“We all have to follow the government guidance to keep each other safe and keep our society open.”
