Steve Morison: It would be a travesty if we made play-offs and Millwall boss did not win manager gong

Steve Morison reckons Neil Harris should be a cert to win Championship Manager of the Year if he leads Millwall to the play-offs.
The Lions have taken 18 points from their last eight matches and their top-six hopes can be boosted by a string of matches against struggling clubs – tomorrow they face rock
bottom Sunderland while also having away assignments at Hull City and Barnsley by the middle of the month.
The gap to sixth-placed Sheffield United is seven points.
Millwall captain Morison said: “We still need a couple of points to be safe but then we start looking up. If we got to the play-offs and Neil Harris didn’t win Manager of the Year it would be a travesty.
“The Wolves manager has done very well but then you are signing players from
Porto and Atletico Madrid – Champions League clubs – you should be doing well.
“We would have done it with a centre-forward [himself] who is past it, three Wolves players who are not good enough for their team, a centre-half [Jake Cooper] who is not good enough for Reading’s team, a lot of homegrown players and ones who have had a sniff of the Championship, or not at all.
“The achievement is that. The teams at the top of the division – Aston Villa and Cardiff – should be there. We shouldn’t be. If we make it to the play-offs it will be an unbelievable achievement.”
Sunderland – managed by former Crystal Palace defender Chris Coleman – are five points adrift of safety. They have also let in the most goals in the division – 61.
“They have to win this game in their battle for survival,” said Harris. “League position goes out of the window a little bit.
“We want the points for a different reason – we’re unbeaten at home for four months and are eight games unbeaten. We’ve got into the top half of the league and want to push towards the top 10 and the 50-point mark as quickly as possible.”
Aiden O’Brien, ruled out with an ankle injury since the 4-3 win at Leeds United on January 20, is due to resume full training next week. Harris hopes to have the attacker back in the squad before the next international break on March 23.
