South London drama school student wins scholarship for working class actors

A budding actor from South London has won a scholarship for working class actors in their final year of drama school.

Originally from Streatham, Ayomide Adegun, 22, is in his second year at the Royal Welsh Academy of Music and Drama and received the most votes to bag the grant.

Mr Adegun said: “Thank you for this great blessing. Huge respect to everyone that applied and especially the finalists, I am sure we will definitely cross paths within the industry.”

The Luke Westlake Scholarship is an award set up by the Just Add Milk Theatre, to reward a drama school or university student with over £3,000 of artistic and financial support for their final year of training and first years in the industry.

Mr Adegun, who now lives in West Norwood, is also an ambassador for the Elevate scheme by Lambeth council which supports diverse talent and opens up more creative workplaces for all.
