Charlton Athletic v Rochdale: Two changes for Addicks as Aneke and Williams come in

Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer has brought top-scorer Chuks Aneke back into his starting line-up for tonight’s home game against Rochdale.

The Addicks chief has made two changes from the side which lost 2-0 to Accrington Stanley on Friday night.

The other switch sees Jonny Williams replace Albie Morgan.

Aneke replaces Conor Washington in Charlton’s attack. Both men have got six goals in League One but the former has also got one in the EFL Cup – with all of them coming after being brought on.

Marcus Maddison, who came off at the weekend after injuring his ankle, is not in the matchday 18. Darren Pratley serves the second of a three-game suspension.

The Addicks are also without Ryan Inniss, Akin Famewo, Ben Watson and Andrew Shinnie due to injury.

A victory for Charlton – their first of 2021 – can lift them to fourth in the table.

Rochdale are in the relegation zone but fought back from 3-0 down after 23 minutes on Saturday to draw 3-3 at home to Crewe. And their last victory was 5-0 at Wigan Athletic in mid-December.

Charlton: Amos, Gunter, Oshilaja, Pearce, Maatsen, Gilbey, Forster-Caskey, Williams, Millar, Smyth, Aneke. Subs: Maynard-Brewer, Purrington, Washington, Matthews, Bogle, Morgan, Schwartz.
