South London duo selected for GB team at Commonwealth Games
Peckham’s Abigail Van Twisk and Streatham’s Ethan Hayter have been selected as part of GB’s cycling team for the Commonwealth Games on Australia’s Gold Coast.
Twisk, who turned 21 at the start of this month, will be racing on the road.
She has no previous Commonwealth Games experience.
Van Twisk is a former pupil at Alleyn’s School in Dulwich and was six when she first attended Herne Hill Velodrome.
Hayter, 19, will compete in the track endurance.
He was part of the GB side which won gold in the team pursuit at the 2018 World Championships in Apeldoorn last weekend.
Hayter, along with Matthew Walls, won the men’s national Madison Championships in December.
The Commonwealth Games run from April 4-15 in Queensland.
