AFC Wimbledon face Oxford United – again – in EFL Trophy tie

BY RICHARD CAWLEY

AFC Wimbledon will face Oxford United in the last four of the EFL Trophy – with the tie set for February 2 (7pm).

It will be the third time that the South London club have travelled to the Kassam Stadium as the two clubs were also paired together in the EFL Cup.

Wimbledon lost 4-3 on penalties in early September and suffered a 2-0 loss in the League One fixture on Boxing Day despite creating a glut of chances.

Glyn Hodges’ side have not conceded in the previous two rounds of the EFL Trophy.

Jack Rudoni’s 61st-minute goal earned a 1-0 victory at Bristol Rovers in the previous round earlier this month.

Ryan Longman, Paul Osew and Joe Pigott were all on the scoresheet in a 3-0 win over Arsenal U21s in early December.

The other ties see Tranmere at home to Peterborough United, Sunderland travel to Milton Keynes and Hull City welcome Lincoln City.

The draw was made live by former Luton striker Sam Parkin on EFL On Quest.–
