Man stabbed in street brawl in Beckenham on Saturday evening

A man was left seriously hurt after being stabbed during a street brawl in a busy high street.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the fight which left a man injured in Beckenham.

Officers were called at 7.05pm on Saturday, 10 March to reports of a fight involving a number of people in the High Street, Beckenham. The incident is believed to have occurred in the area between Sainsburys and the Odeon cinema.

Officers attended but there was no trace of an injured party or suspects at the scene.

A short while later a 23-year-old man attended hospital with stab wounds. His condition is described as serious but stable at this time.

Detectives from the Met’s Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating and are looking to identify a number of people believed to have been involved in the incident.

Detective Inspector Edward Facer of Trident said: “This was a very serious assault that took place on the High Street which would have been busy with people frequenting bars, restaurants and cinema on a Saturday evening.

“Anyone with any information should contact the investigation team on 020 8247 4863. Alternatively information can be given anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

A 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with this investigation and is currently in custody going through the court process.
