Josh Magennis will bounce back from penalty miss – Charlton Athletic boss Karl Robinson

Charlton manager Karl Robinson expects Josh Magennis to bounce back from his penalty miss in Saturday’s 4-1 defeat to Peterborough United.
The Addicks are quickly back in action as they head to Blackpool tonight, knowing they need an upturn in form to relight their League One play-off hopes.
Magennis won a penalty at the ABAX Stadium but put it wide of the right post. Soon after Marcus Maddison struck from the spot to make it 2-0.
Magennis, Jake Forster-Caskey and Johnnie Jackson had all practised spot-kicks the day before.
Robinson said: “My theory is that if you don’t practise penalties then you don’t take them.
“You have to work on the technique. Then it is down to how they feel on the day – somebody could be having a bad day and you could be forcing them to take it.
“Josh will bounce back. He’ll take criticism in the right way. What I like about him is that he is a man.
“It shouldn’t have just been left to him [to score goals]. We’re Charlton Athletic and we’re bringing loans in [during the January transfer window].”
Robinson has told any of his squad who have lost faith in their hopes of gaining promotion to stay away.
“Chris Solly said the same in the dressing room,” said the Addicks chief.
“It is so easy to get your head down after a 4-1 defeat and say we have got no chance – but you need to have better belief than that.
“I was shocked after the game at the scoreline – they took their chances but it should never have been that scoreline. It is still in our hands.
“We have obviously got to win the games but nothing has changed in that respect.”
