Victim of South Norwood killing is named by police as Kelva Smith, 20

Police investigating a fatal stabbing in South Norwood on Monday, 5 March have named the victim as 20-year-old Kelva Smith.

Officers were called at about 5pm to reports of a man stabbed in Albert Road, South Norwood.

Paramedics and police found Kelva suffering from stab injuries but despite their desperate efforts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination was held at Croydon University Hospital on Thursday, 8 March and gave the cause of death as a stab wound to the abdomen.

A 14-year-old boy was charged on Saturday, 10 March with murder, possession of an offensive weapon – a knife – and attempted wounding.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, 12 March. He has been remanded to appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 14 March.

A 19-year-old man was charged on Wednesday, 7 March with murder and possession of an offensive weapon – also a knife.

He appeared at Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 8 March and was remanded in custody to next appear at the Old Bailey on 25 May.

A 15-year-old boy has been bailed in connection with the offence.
