Bus travel advice for commuters on strike days from Wednesday to Saturday next week

By Lizzie May

Transport for London has given travel advice ahead of bus drivers going on strike.

Nearly 3,000 bus drivers with trade union Unite have taken action against parent company RATP Group over pay cuts and new contracts.

The drivers say the company wants to make changes that will cut their salaries by an average of £2,500.

TfL have warned that there could be a small proportion of the capital’s buses affected, but are predominantly in south west London.

The dates for disruption are set to take place next week on Wednesday 3, Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March.

Claire Mann, Director of Bus Operations at TfL said: “If this strike action goes ahead, we will be doing everything possible to reduce the disruption.

“But customers should again check before they travel and allow more time for their journeys, while remembering the Government’s requirement to continue to stay at home if they can.

“We urge all parties in the dispute to sit down and find a resolution as soon as possible.”

RATP oversees London United and Quality Line, which both operate services in Richmond, Surbiton, Wimbledon and Sutton.

Drivers at United will strike on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March and drivers at Quality Line will only strike on Friday.

Locals planning on travelling via public transport are encouraged to check for updates on the TfL website before they travel and leave extra time for their journey.

All other London buses as well as Underground, Overground and Tram services are due to operate as usual.

The London United routes, which will be affected on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 March, are: 18, 33, 65, 70, 71, 72, 85, 94, 110, 111, 116, 148, 203, 216, 220, 223, 224, 265, 266, 281, 283, 371, 406, 411, 418, 419, 423, 440, 613, 662, 665, 671, 681, 696, 697, 465, N18, N33, N65, N72, N266, C1, H22, H32, H37, H98, K1, K2, K3, K4 and K5
